Exploratorium Map Redesign Experiment

2022
Wayfinding, Visitor Experience

Context

With the goal of increasing museum accessibility, specifically for those lacking map-reading literacy and those with sensory processing disorders, I spearheaded an experimental redesign of the Exploratorium's map.

Design

I adapted to working in an isometric style in this experimental map, exploring if an added layer of dimension would assist visitor wayfinding. The use of color was a strong choice to make it easier to distinguish between galleries. The use of landmarks and clear communicative icons were used to help identify points of interest.
